New shoes, who dis?

I finally did it.  I bit the bullet.  I bought new shoes.  Honestly, they were an impulse buy.  A consolation boot, really.  The boots I really wanted were not a good fit (physically—ouch), so I rebounded with the first thing to come along.  Yes, we are still talking about footwear.  Anyhow, these new boots, they’re nice, they fit, they suit me, but somehow I’m still left with this feeling...

I think we’ve all been here.  Wondering if we made the right decision about a new addition to our closet/living room floor.   It was late, there was a coupon code, and the free shipping was flowing.  I couldn’t help it.  I was trying to fill a void.  Now I have a brand new pair of strangers sitting in front of me, and I can’t help but wonder if maybe we skipped a few steps.

Should I have let them sit in my online basket a little longer?  Maybe sent a url to my bestie for a co-sign?  Should I have run them by my boyfriend for moral support?  The head spins and the mind reels.  Now, I know what you’re thinking, why don’t I just return them?  Well, I’m no quitter and I refuse to give up on these bright red, faux snake skin babies.  Somehow I will find a way to make them feel at home.  Like raisins in the oatmeal cookie batter, it may take some extra effort, but somehow I will find an outfit they will mix perfectly into.
